SAFe Scrum Master

In this course, participants learn about the Scrum Master role in an organization that uses SAFe. Unlike a traditional Scrum Master training that only focuses on working with a single agile team, this SAFe Scrum Master training also explores the role of the Scrum Master in the wider organization. It prepares the participant to plan and execute a program increment (PI), including the essential methods and techniques of agile working and Scrum.

Course objectives

The course includes facilitating interaction and collaboration between agile teams, executing a PI and relentless improvement. The course builds on the fundamentals of Scrum and also introduces the concept of scaling Agile and DevOps methods, using Kanban to visualize flow and support the interaction with architects, product managers and other stakeholders.
Included are tools and techniques for building high-performing teams and practical approaches to countering Agile and Scrum anti-patterns.

Target audience

This class is intended for people who are new to the Scrum Master role, or people who want to better understand the role and how it fits in a SAFe company, participants typically include

  • New from existing Scrum Masters
  • Team leader
  • Release train engineers

Prerequisites

Everyone is welcome to participate in the course, regardless of experience.

However, the following prerequisites are strongly recommended:

  • Familiarity with agile concepts and principles
  • Awareness of Scrum, Kanban and eXtreme Programming (XP)
  • Working knowledge of software and hardware development processes
